RICHARD PELLEGRINO

Richard Pellegrino is a contemporary French painter who lives and works in Aix en Provence.

He uses a lively, luminous, contrasting and sometimes energetic palette. His approach is intuitive and geometric.

The artistic sensibility that inhabits him gives him the freedom to express himself in an abstraction based on gesture and reflection, but also, by period, in a very personal, singular semi-abstract figuration.

He is looking for a rich, constructed painting, where graphics, materials and colors are articulated either by the "painted gesture" or by interlacing, mosaics ...

According to his mood, he constructs and deconstructs material, uses colors and impressions possibly extracted from nature to restore vague images. His colors are those of primitive life: earth ocher; deep night blue; red blood; white clouds; black ash; yellow of the sun ...

The layers of material and paint overlap to form strata, comparable to geological strata. Adding and removing the material gives the canvas a particular texture. Paste, scratch, erase, cover, sand, tear…. it is the long journey necessary to charge each painting with emotion.
